The corner
The same wooden-balconied corner building, photographed twice. Move between the frames and the difference is entirely in the ground floor.
One shelf, two frames, and a calendar in each that reads April 1978 and April 2024.

A crocheted doily, a stack of Urdu paperbacks and a wall calendar. In one frame the machine on top is a transistor radio; in the other it is a portable speaker. The furniture is the control; the machine is the variable.
Both frames include a wall calendar turned to April. In the first, 1 April falls on a Saturday and the printed year begins '19'. In the second, 1 April falls on a Monday and the year begins '202'. Those two facts are visible in the photographs; the years they imply are stated here as a reading, not as a caption from the photographer.
The doily, the book stack and the calendar illustration are common to both frames. Holding those constant is what makes the machine legible as the thing that changed.
Capture dates, photographer credit and the provenance of each object in frame. Whether the earlier frame is a period photograph or a staged reconstruction is not established here, and this entry does not assert either.
